9-10-12 Week 1

Week one:

I've been able to keep up a fairly decent workout scheduel, running every day -jogging two miles on  one day, running three miles on another day.  I've been able to come up with a good playlist and keep myself motivated enough to work out every morning, my biggest chalenge is food.

Food is a tough one, I live in a house where everyone else's food is not always healthy.  So I have to either convince everyone else to eat what I want, or get very VERY creative.  Pasta has been a fairly simple one for me, so this week has been lots of fruit, chicken, and pasta with veggies. And mashed potatoes, that's been a big one for me.  Usually I just boil some potatoes and mix in basil and garlic with a little olive oil and call it good, but recently I've been craving something different.  So I've been making mashed yams, a lot more vitamins for you.

-Four small yams boiled with two normal potatoes, boiled in milk (I used rice milk, but you can use whatever kind you like) mashed, whipped up with a little olive oil, salt and pepper.  Once finished, sprinkle with a little bit of brown sugar and paprika. It's pretty awesome!

What's in a name?

To outrun Zombies.  Ridiculous name for a health blog? Absolutely.

You see, coming up with content and style for a blog wasn't hard for me, it was the name.  When the little box pops up and says "Okay, name yourself." I just stared at it.  Then I started thinking about why I wanted to become healthier again, and made a list:

1. To feel good not only in my clothes, but in my skin.

2. To look like the woman that my fiance fell in love with once again.

3. To feel good about what I eat.

4. To be an inspiration to the young girls in my life.

5. To regain my engery.

6. To outrun the zombies.

I know, it's laughable.  I come from a family of loud men, and my fiance is no exception.  We have a thing for watching Zombie television together, as twisted as it sounds, we get quite a kick out of it.  The Walking Dead, Zombieland, Shawn Of The Dead, you name it.  Every time I think of running on my treadmill (the hamster wheel, as it is affectionally known in my house) I think of that one scene in Zombieland where they list all of the rules and "Cardio" pops up as one of them.  So while outrunning zombies is not the most important thing on my motivational list, it is the most memorable.

So here I am, recording my journey.  To eat better, feel better, look better.

And to outrun Zombies of course.
